SERVICE AT A GLANCE - THAILAND Operator AIS, Thailand Customer AIS, Thailand Customer Problem Poor mobile coverage   One of AIS Thailand’s key corporate customer’s received poor mobile coverage at their cement plant and its neighboring residential area. The cement plant and the residential area were located in a valley where the nearest BTS site was 5.5 Kms away. The corporate customer wanted to leverage mobile services to monitor plant’s daily activities, keep regular contact with managers, and provide reliable communication for the staff working in the area. Shyam Telecom proposed a solution consisting of a Frequency Converting Repeater whereby a Master unit was installed at the remote BTS site and a Remote unit was installed at the corporate customer’s premises. Such a cost-effective solution coverage solution in the valley allowed the corporate customer to benefit from productivity gains while the mobile operator benefited from roaming revenue brought by the corporate customer’s suppliers and contractors.
