SERVICE AT A GLANCE - TAJIKISTAN Operator Somoncom Customer Somoncom, Tajikistan Customer Problem Coverage black-out in tunnel   Tajikistan’s national highway, connecting Khujand to Dushanbe is an important economic backbone for the country’s economy. Somoncom wanted to ensure seamless coverage on the national highway for its customers. The highway is made up of a 5 Km stretch of tunnel where Somoncom wanted to provide coverage. The installation of a BTS site to cover the tunnel was not only economically unviable, but also ineffective in providing uniform coverage throughout the tunnel. Shyam Telecom worked closely with Somoncom and proposed a solution whereby the entire 5 Km tunnel was covered, providing uniform mobile coverage, thereby boosting customer satisfaction and revenues for the mobile operator.
